Photographer, documentary filmmaker, curator and educator
Curator Of Roots and Routes
I am a London-based photographer, documentary filmmaker, curator and educator whose practice explores identity, heritage and transmission through research-led projects combining photography, film, archives, textiles and experimental approaches. My work seeks to preserve personal narratives, explore emotional inheritance and foster intercultural dialogue.
Over more than twenty years of research between Sudan and the UK, I have built an extensive photographic and film archive documenting Sudanese culture. My work has been exhibited internationally, published in leading media and broadcasted by BBC Arabic, Al Arabiya and Sudanese television channels.
I have received support from Arts Council England, AFAC and the Arab British Centre, and collaborated with cultural organisations, museums, NGOs and international institutions, including UNESCO, UNHCR and the Institut du monde arabe.
My curatorial projects include Sudan Singularities, PhotoSudan Network and, more recently, Of Roots and Routes, an exhibition celebrating Sudanese women artists and exploring migration, memory, identity and belonging.
I hold an MA in Anthropology from Paris Nanterre University, a postgraduate diploma in Photojournalism from the London School of Communications, and a Certificate in Documentary Filmmaking from DFG DocLab, UK.
